How to connect a third-party access terminal or door controller

Connect a face or fingerprint access terminal to Fitnexa using its cloud server (ADMS) settings, test the connection and the door, and control who gets in.

If you already have a face or fingerprint terminal at your door, Fitnexa can talk to it: entries at the door count as attendance, and you decide what happens when a membership lapses. A short wizard walks you through Details, Connect, Test connection, Test the door and Access.

Step by step

  1. Start the wizard

Click More › Devices, open Access Control and click Add terminal (or Set up your first terminal if it's your first).

    • Device Accounts
    • Device Registry
    • Kiosks
    • Access Control (select this tab)
    Access Control
    Add terminal (click this)
  2. Enter the terminal's details

Give it a Display Name and enter its Serial Number (4–40 characters). You'll find the serial on the terminal under Menu → System Info → Device Info. Choose the branch it's in and click Register & connect.

  3. Point the terminal at Fitnexa

On the terminal, open Menu → Comm. → Cloud Server Setting and set: Server mode to ADMS, Enable domain name On, the Server address and Server port exactly as shown on your Fitnexa screen, HTTPS on, and Enable proxy server Off.

Your Fitnexa screen updates by itself when the terminal connects. Click Continue to test.

  4. Test the connection and the door

Test connection sends a harmless command to prove the terminal receives commands. On Test the door, stand where you can see the door and click Open the door to check the lock releases.

  5. Decide who can get in

On the last step, Who can get in, choose what happens when a membership lapses. Then link the people enrolled on the terminal to their Fitnexa accounts with Link people. New people are enrolled on the terminal itself (Menu → User Mgt. → New User) and appear in Fitnexa within seconds.

Click Finish setup when you're done.

If something goes wrong

The status never changes to connected
Double-check the server address and port on the terminal match your screen exactly, that HTTPS is on and the proxy is off, and that the terminal has internet. Then click Open a new pairing window and try again.
The serial number is rejected
It must be 4–40 characters. Copy it from Menu → System Info → Device Info on the terminal.

Common questions

Do members need to enrol on the terminal separately?

Yes. Enrol them on the terminal (Menu → User Mgt. → New User), then link each one to their Fitnexa account.

Does an expired member still get in?

You decide. The Who can get in step sets what happens when a membership lapses.
